The Original Chris Caine® Survival Knife

The Original Chris Caine® Survival Knife (CC-SK) has been individually hand crafted by Sheffield master knife makers and cutlers A.Wrights & son, using methods passed down from generation to generation. Every process, from cutting out the blades and hardening and tempering, assembly, grinding and glazing - right up to the final polishing, are all done in-house, this gives them a guaranteed quality control, through every step of the process.

After developing the Original Chris Caine® Survival tool, we felt it would be more practical in some situations, to have the choice of a large or small knife, so we began to develop the Original Chris Caine® Survival Knife, giving us the freedom to chose what product would be best suited to the tasks in hand, for example if you are out foraging for plants and fungi then although the Original Chris Caine® Survival tool would be able to do the job, it would be a more practical choice to use the smaller Original Chris Caine® Survival Knife, giving more freedom of movement and in this situation more flexibility in uses.

Producing this knife has been a long hard process, as many prototypes have been produced and thrown in the bin as they just didn't do what we wanted them to do, or they done the job but not as well as we wanted them to. after a lot of hard work, testing tweaking and patience we finally worked out the final design, a design that was both esthetically pleasing and practical for the jobs it had to tackle.

Features

The tang : The original Chris Caine® Survival knife has a full tang blade with a fully profiled handle. The fill profiled tang enables the user of the knife to replace the handles with another temporary material such as wrapping para cord around it or prepared bark to provide a comfortable handle, should the scales every get to badly damaged for use and you are unable to return it to us for repair.

The handle : of this knife has been gently angled back to give a more comfortable grip and ease of us, putting less strain on the wrist and making using this knife for prolonged periods far more comfortable.
The handle itself has been riveted onto the tang of the blade for a secure fit. The Scales are hand selected Rose wood, and have been shaped and finished by hand to ensure the highest of quality and standards.

The Blade : The Original Chris Caine® Survival Knife like the Original Chris Caine® Survival Tool has a Convex grind, giving ease of maintenance, a strong durable edge and less resistance on the blade when used for such tasks as splitting wood and skinning large animals, yet the curve is shallow enough so as not to hinder such tasks as notching, whittling or feathering. The tip of the blade has been rounded off to allow for hitting with a baton with minimal damage to the blade, this also allows the user to gently beet fibers materials for the preparation of cordage with minimal damage to the fibers themselves. The Gently sweeping shape of the blade not only compliments the shape of The Original Chris Caine® Survival Tool but also allows the user to use the blade with less risk of cutting themselves as the cutting edge is slightly below the normal hand position on the handle.

Making this what we believe is an all round knife, suitable for survival and bushcraft alike.
